The Civic Awards 2024

Do you know someone that has made a positive contribution to the well-being of the people of Bexhill?

Do you know someone that has demonstrated outstanding citizenship?

We are now accepting nominations for civic awards to recognise those that have made a positive impact on our town for the period May 2023 - March 2024.

The criteria to receive an award is flexible and each individual's contribution to the town is measured by comparing the nominations received. Nominees must be residents of Bexhill.

Please submit your application by 1st February 2024.

The criteria for nominating a group or individual to receive a cup:

The Mullins Trophy Cup – The Community group award.

Criteria for nomination:

  • The group is dedicated to making Bexhill a better place.
  • The group have gone the extra mile to raise funds for a good cause.
  • The group improve the lives of others by caring for them on a regular basis.
  • The group help to make Bexhill-on-Sea more environmentally friendly and better for nature.
  • The group inspire diverse communities to come together. They do this by creating real change and breaking down barriers, bringing people from different walks of life together for a common cause.

 

The Mullins Trophy Garden Cup – A new award to be given to the person or household with the best front garden by an amateur gardener.

Criteria for nomination:

  • The front garden can be viewed from the road or footpath.
  • A good design and efficient use of space.
  • The front garden shows a range of plants.
  • Maintenance of paths, lawns (where appropriate) and any hard landscaping e.g., gravel areas, boundaries, driveways, pergolas.
  • Cleanliness – the absence of litter, weeds and dog/cat fouling.
  • Methods of recycling of natural resources (compost) and minimising waste along with water conservation.

 

The Coghlan Cup Youth Award – A new award to be given to an outstanding young person in the community.

Criteria for nomination:

  • Bexhill resident up to the age of 18.
  • The individual has made a significant difference and brought positive change, working with vision and inspiring others in Bexhill.
