The town council sets aside part of its annual budget each year to make grants and donations to local voluntary and community groups. This power is available to the town council under section 137 of the Local Government Act.
Each year the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government sets a limit on the maximum a parish/town council can spend on the community with this power.
The overall budget for grants is £42,000.
THE FUND FOR 2024-25 is now OPEN
Applications of up to £10,000 are to be considered in January, May and September. Each application can be made up to a value of £10,000. Smaller grants of up to £1,000 are to be considered at each meeting. The total grants and donations budget is £42,000.
